From convertible roadster to race-inspired track car – a complete Porsche transformation.
This exciting project involved transforming a Porsche Boxster GTS into a striking Cayman-style hardtop track car, complete with a fresh white paint finish, gold alloy wheels and a distinctive Martini Racing-inspired livery.
What started as a standard convertible Boxster became a completely different-looking machine, combining the sleek appearance of a Cayman-style coupe with the unmistakable character of a Porsche track car.
Stage 1 – Removing the Convertible Roof
The first stage of the transformation involved removing the Boxster’s original convertible roof, folding mechanisms and rear boot lid.
These components needed to be removed to make way for the new fixed-roof conversion and rear tailgate assembly.
With the convertible components removed, work could begin on creating the new coupe-style profile that would dramatically change the car’s appearance.
Stage 2 – Fitting the Cayman-Style Hardtop Conversion
With the original roof and associated mechanisms removed, the next stage was fitting the hardtop conversion and new rear tailgate.
This was one of the most significant parts of the project, transforming the familiar Boxster silhouette into a sleek, fixed-roof design inspired by the Porsche Cayman.
The conversion gave the car a completely new appearance and provided the foundation for the next stage of the build.
Stage 3 – Bodywork Preparation and Painting
Once the hardtop conversion was in place, attention turned to preparing the bodywork for its new colour.
The car underwent preparation ready for repainting, with the bodywork brought together to create a consistent finish across the original panels and newly fitted conversion.
The original dark grey paintwork was replaced with a fresh, bright white finish, giving the Porsche a dramatic new look.
The white paint also provided the perfect base for the motorsport-inspired graphics planned for the final stage.
Stage 4 – Gold Wheels and Motorsport Styling
With the bodywork painted, the project moved on to its final visual transformation.
The gold alloy wheels provided a striking contrast against the white bodywork, while the rear spoiler and racing graphics helped create a purposeful track-day appearance.
The finishing touch was the application of a Martini Racing-inspired livery, featuring the iconic red and blue racing stripes, race number 99 and additional motorsport decals.
These details transformed the car from a clean white coupe-style Porsche into a bold, race-inspired machine.
Stage 5 – The Finished Porsche Track Car
The final result is a dramatic transformation from the original grey Porsche Boxster convertible into a white, Cayman-style track car.
With its fixed roof, distinctive rear spoiler, gold wheels and eye-catching Martini Racing-inspired graphics, the finished Porsche looks completely different from the car that first arrived at the workshop.
This project demonstrates how a combination of bodywork modification, specialist paint preparation and carefully chosen motorsport styling can transform the appearance of a Porsche.
From Boxster convertible to Cayman-inspired track car – a fantastic transformation, ready for track-day adventures!
